Worship on Wednesday
WOW! stand for Worship on Wednesday and Wow! It's fun!!

Worshipping God involves so many things. It involves prayer, singing, study, and enjoyment of all God's creation. We know that kids learn in many different ways. At WOW!, we want to keep our worship fresh. For our elementary kids, this means short-term classes to address a variety of interests. We recently finished a study on The Chronicles of Narnia, followed by a month of missions education. We'll spend a month or two in choir, learning to praise God through song and instruments, and then move on to a fun study of the Parables. Our goal is to provide children many opportunities to encounter God in a fresh way.

Preschool children enjoy a little more routine, and we provide it. 4 and 5 year olds meet at 6pm for a half hour of choir. They enjoy musical activities, games, and songs that help them know God better. After choir, they spend half an hour at Mission Friends. Our children learn about people around the world who love God and tell others about God. Preschoolers enjoy learning and expressing how they feel about God.

Our youngest children, babies and toddlers, enjoy an evening of play in a beautiful nursery with an excellent staff. There's something for everyone at WOW! And at the end of classes, families go to the gym for an hour of playtime and visiting.

WOW begins just after Wednesday night dinner at 6pm. Elementary children gather in the Dining Hall and preschoolers meet in the nursery. Come join us! We know you'll say, "WOW!"

WOW! Our latest update: Our elementary students just finished an exciting month of missions education. The teachers guided our classes through a study on the wonderful ways that God uses people to call others to worship God. We learned about Paul in the jail at Phillipi. One fun part of the lesson was a game I can only call “Pin the Person on Jesus”. We had a great time trying to get people to Jesus with our blindfolds on! Our month ended with two special visitors. First Paxman Boadu, our new Ghanian church planter came to tell us about his work. He showed us some yams and everyone found them a little scary looking! For our final week, we met a new friend, Mavis. She is a Karen Christian from Myanmar visiting the US. She works with Health Care Christian Fellowship. She told us an amazing story about her pastor being jailed even though he hadn’t done wrong and how he was leading people to Christ in prison. Our kids said, “That’s just like Paul!” We were also excited to hear about her work providing medical care, dental care, food, and clothing. We all realized that this is a sister ministry in Myanmar. Every time we pray for Good Shepherd, we want to remember to pray for Mavis and Myanmar. We have amazing children in this church who love to learn about God! Thanks for loving and praying for our children!
