"God has sacrificed for us so we can have
eternal life so we can do our part and sacrifice for Him. Following our hearts to
help our wonderful church spread the words of Christ and fulfilling the needs of
others gives us the joy that we receive in doing Christ’s work. What a blessing!"

A Heart For Our City |

You can hardly go down a street in Downtown or Midtown without seeing the signs of residential
construction. Developments like Harvey Lofts, Block 42, The Hill, Mayfair Park, The Sieber, Legacy Summit,
Central Avenue Villas, and The Triangle, will bring thousands to live within five minutes of our front
door. The promise of urban growth is now being realized.
New restaurants and entertainment venues are popping up everywhere. And Bricktown's renovation and
development have drawn the attention of city planners across the nation. Events like the grand reopening
of the Skirvin Hotel, headline musical concerts, the annual Festival of the Arts, NBA basketball, and
major sports tournaments have become the norm in the once quiet Downtown area.
In Midtown, restaurants now abound. We will soon witness the opening of Irma's II, and an English-style
pub will open in the Plaza Court. And soon, 1492, a Latin-fusion eatery, will follow suit on Walker.
They join Café do Brasil, Subway, and The Grateful Bean that have opened or reopened during the last year.
At least once a week, the newspaper heralds another new business or venue coming our way. In the days
ahead there will be more homes, restaurants, and retail in Downtown and Midtown than ever in our city's
history. We stand on the threshold of what will be Oklahoma City's golden era, and we at First Baptist
Church are thrilled to be a part of it.
