Central Baptist Seminary in OKC
Two seminary courses will be offered beginning September 8 at First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City (FBCOKC). The classes are offered in partnership with Central Baptist Theological Seminary (CBTS) of Kansas City, Kan. Classes will meet on Friday evenings and Saturdays to allow working students to participate.

Biblical Preaching and Teaching is an introductory course designed to cover both traditional and contemporary approaches allowing students to discover their own personal style of preaching. Lavonn Brown, former pastor of First Baptist Church of Norman and currently CBTS visiting instructor of preaching, will teach the course. The course meets Sept. 8-9, Oct. 6-7, Nov. 3-4 and Dec. 1-2.

A course on Christian Witness will cover the foundations for the cross-cultural mission and ministry of the global church. Course instructor, T Thomas, is coordinator of the Cooperating Baptist Fellowship of Oklahoma. Course content will include the cultural and social challenges of contextualization, post-modernism, globalization and multi-denominational perspectives. Meeting dates include Sept. 15-16, Oct. 20-21, Nov. 17-18 and Dec. 15-16.

"Going to seminary traditionally means a full-time commitment, but these classes meet right here at our church after work hours on Friday and on Saturdays," said Tom Ogburn, senior pastor at FBCOKC. "So anyone looking to take real seminary-level courses can do it right here in downtown Oklahoma City. It's a great opportunity to work on a seminary degree on a part-time basis."
