Bruce and Kim Greer
Bruce and Kim Greer join First Baptist OKC music ministry
First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City has announced the addition of Bruce and Kim Greer to the church's music ministry staff. Kim Greer brings strong skills in congregational and choral music leadership. She is joined by her husband, noted composer, singer and producer, Bruce Greer. Together they will serve as Ministers of Music and Worship.

"Bruce and Kim have brought incredible energy and excitement to the music portion of our worship and fellowship experiences," said Dr. Tom Ogburn, senior pastor. "Our church is in the midst of renewal-both spiritually and structurally-and the Greers have added a new dimension to our music ministry while continuing to value the worship traditions we hold dear. We truly have the best of all worlds with them on board."

"From the moment I stepped in as interim music minister last year, I felt like this was home," said Bruce Greer. "Although we never imagined that this would be more than a temporary position, God had a different idea. This church has such a rich history, and we are thrilled to become a permanent part of its ministry here in Oklahoma City."

Bruce Greer (www.brucegreer.com) has published hundreds of choral, orchestral and piano works, and in 1999 received the Dove Award for Musical of the Year for his arrangement of the Christmas classic, "Mary, Did You Know?" A native of Longview, Tex., Greer began arranging hymns for choir and piano by age 12. By the time he was in high school, Greer's compositions were being performed by his church and school choirs. After graduating from Baylor University in 1984, he worked for six years as creative director for Word Records and Music, the world's largest producer of Christian music. After feeling God's call on his life in 1990, Greer left Word to pursue a full-time writing and concert career. He has done extensive concert and recording work as a solo artist and also with vocalist extraordinaire, Cynthia Clawson.

"I never dreamed I would leave Texas," Kim Greer said. "It just seemed impossible. But the amazing growth and energy we see here at First Baptist Church and in the MidTown area makes it an exciting venture for our entire family. We can hardly wait to see what God does next."

Also a Longview native, Kim Greer served on the music staff at First Baptist Church, Lewisville, TX., from 1998 serving as Minister of Music for Children, Middle School and Creative Arts. She served in this role until accepting the position at FBCOKC. Prior to her formal staff role, she served as an vital part of the congregation's music ministry. She previously served as minister of music in West, Texas; children's music coordinator in Waco, Texas; and directed children's choirs in Carrollton, Texas. She also taught public school music in Coppell for two years. .A music education graduate of Baylor University, she brings extensive experience in coordinating youth and children's music programs, worship planning, as well as directing adult choral music.

The Greers are commuting through the spring to allow their two youngest sons to complete the academic year in their current school settings. The family plans to move to the Oklahoma City area permanently by this summer. They have been married for 25 years and are the parents of four sons.
