The music ministry of First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City will present “The Messiah: Magnified!” on Sunday, March 27, at 6:00 pm at the church, 1201 N. Robinson.
The original program, arranged by Bruce Greer, FBCOKC minister of music, features selections from Handel’s “Messiah” blended with contemporary congregational praise and worship.
The FBC Sanctuary Choir and musicians will lead a musical journey through the life and passion of Christ. The evening will move from creation to Christ’s birth, death, and resurrection, creatively juxtaposing Handel with Chris Tomlin and other contemporary writers of worship music.
“Music, whether old or new, classical or contemporary, moves the soul,” said Greer. “The messages we hear in these powerful lyrics and beautiful melodies, both classical and contemporary, paint pictures of the life of Christ and help us draw closer to Him. We want this program to help prepare our hearts for Easter.”
